-sigh-
Okay. Let's break this down. And this will be what I am going to be talking about today because

Say you want to be a K pop artist. (HerpDerp) Firstly, you'd have to get into a certain management company through auditions at a young age. Then, you have to go through apprenticeship, which takes about 3~4 years in average. By the time you go through that period, you have to compete against other apprentices of that management company to debut as a member in an idol group.
JYP entertainment is one of those company that produces such idol group through strucutred system of apprenticeship. This company is led by Jin Young Park (English name JYP; where the name of this company comes from), who likes to try unprecedented kind of beats, rhythm, and concepts; applying retro music on Wondergirls was one of his many trials to make a creative album to produce something out of the box.

2PM, 2AM, Miss A, and Wondergirls are the best known JYP artist.
You may even know Rain, who was a JYP artist until 2009 (yeah that dude from Ninja Assassin).
If I do not see any other comments, I think I might review the big three K pop entertainment companies and their artist. So I will comeback to you guys with SM Entertainment tomorrow.
To end today's post, let me ask you this question:
Who are dream girls???
looking good
ReplyDeletethanks! :)
ReplyDeletethis is interesting, I had no idea that such time consuming prepping went into these artists.
ReplyDeleteAlso, when I said that they looked like dreamgirls I didn't mean it in a rude way, I love the dreamgirls. They were a beautiful group of 3 women who sang during the 60s. Beyonce was in a movie about them. It's cool.
Could you link some famous kpop songs at the moment?
thank you for answering my question! So Dreamgirls was famous in 60s? Good to know!
ReplyDeleteNah, I didn't think you meant what you said in a rude way, I just took it to use it on my blog because the question is a legit one.
K pop songs that gained the most response from Europe and the USA are all produced from SM Entertainment, which is what I am going to be posting about tonight. I will post some videos then.
i like how you posted various pictures and explain how many singers debut through company structure. I did not know that people need to go through apprenticeship about 3 to 4 years. Because that period is a pretty long time to spend as apprentices. I am pretty sure there are a lot of competition among apprentices in order to debut earlier than other people. I hope a lot of singers can be debut. Wish them luck
ReplyDeleteYeah... it is quite competitive; as you might know, JYP artist Jo Kwon of 2AM is known for his 8 years of apprenticeship, which is a lot, compared to that of other average apprentices. I feel that too many people are suffering to achieve their goal, as long as being a K pop artist is concerned...
