I can just tell what K pop did this to this young and innocent soul.
Here's the original one. Yep, this one is a live video and yep, if you pay attention at first, you'll see that they are JYP artists.
So I wanted to post about Asian fans today; as you see up there, the response that K pop artists get is sometimes overwhlemingly shocking. Even before we start talking about globalization of K pop, there has been so many indication that Korean culture itself is being followed by Asian countries, espeicially ones in South Asia.
It turns out that Korean Wave, (which I talked about in the second post, Everywhere?) has affected South Asia very, very hard that the young people started following K pop, popular culture in Korea, as well as they followed fashions and lifestyle in the dramas and TV programs that are being imported to their countries.
It is kind of amazing that, once Korean Wave become one of the concept, people were just so fantic about following, or at least pacing up with K Wave that K pop has become something almost of a must-follow thing among young people in South Asian countries like... Vietnam (as you can see)!
Yeah, today, I sort of digressed from reviewing styles of entertainment companies. I should have reviewed YG entertainment today, which is known for BIG BANG and 2NE1, who recently got MTV Iggy's Best New Band in the World this year. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.... I will see if I want to review YG. I will do that if there is no comments posing some questions. Unless that happens, I will continue with YG entertainment review on Monday next week.
Until then, be well! :)
Oh yeah, I forgot to ask you guys something. Would you guys rather have me post videos with English subs or no? Some peopl just like to see the video first and search the video on YouTube later to understand what they are singing about.
Please answer by commenting, or answering to the survey that I have on the botton of this blog page.

ReplyDeleteThis song Hands Up is sooo good. I love it! I have not heard Korean pop until 3 minutes ago and I absolutely love it. The beats are great and I found myself bobbing my head and drumming on the table since the first few seconds of the upbeat and exciting song. This reminds me to many of the pop songs in the US that make me want to dance. I see many similarities in the subject content they chose to sing about and the beats and music they performed to. This video made me curious to see if US pop is an influence to much of Korean Pop or if US pop gets flavors from Korean pop. Great choice of a song. I have to stop writing because I want to download this onto my ipod.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that kpop is becoming widely known to worldwide. Kpop songs are not only famous in Korea, but it is also famous in States too! Even if k pop songs are written and sung in korean, i would like to say that rhythm and beat of songs are attractive enough to decoy people all around the world. I want to see more progress that i can listen k pop songs a lot often here in States.
ReplyDeleteScribs--- I am glad that you loved it! As far as your question goes, I think I might need to search more on it, but there are definitely some artists like Teddy Riley, who worked for Girl's Generation's 3rd album, the Boyz; so there are definitely interaction there.
ReplyDeletetkim2012--- Yeah, a lot of people have been asking about the US response on K pop. McWell commented on my thurday's blog to review about it. I think I might do that instead of sharing about YG Entertainment. Tune in! :)
This is so great! I think we need a boy band comeback in the US. KoReanZerg, I was interested to know what are some of your favorite bands or groups are. What else is good!? :) I know literally nothing about k-pop, so it's so cool to hear this sort of stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'm really digging this stuff. Great dancing and synchronization between all of the group members, and the music is great too, so it's easy to get into kpop even though I don't speak the language. Even though I don't really appreciate boy bands in general, it's still so much fun to watch them dance along together. The crowd gets really into it too, so they're obviously very popular. Also the lip syncing guy is hilarious, I'm really glad you added that.
